Okay, let’s get straight to the point. Why is the iHome Bluetooth speaker not pairing?
Well, there is no direct answer to this though. Your iHome speaker may not be connecting to your Bluetooth device for a number of reasons.
Some of the reasons could be coming from the ihome speaker while others may be may come from the audio device itself.
The reasons include:
iHome speakers are only able to connect to other devices via Bluetooth when they are in pairing mode.
This mode is a kind of instruction to the speaker that it should get ready to pair up with other Bluetooth devices.
When you use iHome speaker models like the iBT39 and iBT77, the speakers automatically switch to the auto-pairing mode once you turn them on.

In this case, it is easier for it to search for nearby Bluetooth devices without your permission. Most often, there may be no device at all to pair with after being in the automatic pairing mode for about 3 minutes.
When you try to connect your Bluetooth devices after this time, your devices will not pair unless you manually turn on the pairing mode on the speaker.
When you turn on your iHome Bluetooth speaker device and it automatically goes into the auto-pairing mode, it will pair up with the device that you connected to it provided that device is within the Bluetooth range.
Now, when you try to connect a new device to the iHome Bluetooth speaker, it will not connect so long as the connection between the speaker and the previous device is active.
A lot of times, you may be so focused on connecting your new Bluetooth speaker, making you lose sight of the fact the speaker is already connected to another device.
Bluetooth’s area of coverage is limited. Therefore, it is important to keep your device within the range of Bluetooth in order to be successfully connected.
For iHome Bluetooth speakers, the Bluetooth range is about 30 feet, so if the device that you want to pair with the speaker is beyond this range, it will not pair.

The iHome Bluetooth speaker goes into an auto-pairing mode when you turn it on.
However, if you want to put the speaker into the pairing by yourself, you can do that.
For models, like the iBT39 and iBT77, you need to press and hold the Play, Pause, Speakerphone, and Bluetooth buttons on the front panel of the speaker for a few seconds until the Bluetooth indicator light flashes.
For other models, you’ll have to move a switch from the Power Off or the Aux to the Bluetooth in order to put the speaker in pairing mode.
The speaker will then go into Bluetooth or pairing mode. After the speaker gets into the pairing mode, it will begin to search for available nearby Bluetooth devices and if your Bluetooth device has been enabled, you’ll see the iHome speaker in the list of the devices on your smartphone.
If you had previously connected a Bluetooth device to your iHome speaker, make sure to check on the Bluetooth device list on your smartphone and disconnect it before you attempt to connect to another device.
This is because of the auto-pairing feature which connects to your previous device automatically once you turn on the iHome speaker.
On your android device, you can go to Settings then Bluetooth, and then delete the iHome speaker from the device list.
After unpairing the previous devious, you will be at liberty to pair up your new Blue device.
This tip can not be overemphasized. Once you are outside the range of the Bluetooth connection, you’ll not be able to pair the iHome speaker and the Bluetooth device even if they are the best of their kind.
The range of the iHome Bluetooth speaker is about 33 feet so always try to keep your Bluetooth speakers within this range.
And yes, the closer the better.
iHome Bluetooth speakers usually have a reset button that you can use to reset the speaker if you run into any issues.
The button is located at the back of the speaker and it’s so tiny that your finger will not be able to reach it properly.
If you want to reset your iHome speaker, use a pin or any pointed object and press and hold down the reset button for 2 seconds.
The iHome speaker will reset and hopefully begin to pair with your audio devices.
If your iHome speaker is not able to connect with your Bluetooth device, it could be that your Bluetooth device can not be discovered by the speaker.
In that case, you need to make your Bluetooth discoverable.
Go to Settings on your smartphone or tablet and then navigate Bluetooth. Make sure to enable the device to be discovered from there.
Once your Bluetooth device is discovered by the iHome speaker, your speaker will then be able to connect to the device if all other factors are intact.
