How to Connect iHome Speaker to iPhone Easily

iHome speakers are an addition to the list of audio devices that you can use for sound systems. Typically, they are designed to work with iPhones and other iOS devices but nothing actually stops you from using them on other operating systems. As an iPhone user, connecting the iHome smart Bluetooth speaker to your smartphone should be fairly easy because iHome speakers support Bluetooth connection.

The Bluetooth feature makes the connection between the two devices easier. To connect an iHome speaker to your iPhone, turn on the Bluetooth on your iPhone and put the iHome speaker in Bluetooth mode. Search for available Bluetooth devices on your iPhone and then pair the iPhone with the iHome speaker once your phone detects the speaker.

This process is as simple as connecting your iPhone to any Bluetooth device. However, you need to prep up the iHome speaker for Bluetooth so I will be explaining further on the preparation stage and also share some details on how to connect both devices. Read on for all this information if you want to know more about how to connect the iHome speaker and the iPhone successfully without any complications.

How to Connect iHome Speaker to iPhone

How Do I Connect My iHome to My iPhone?

As I said earlier, connecting an iPhone speaker to an iPhone is pretty much simpler than you thought.

With the help of Bluetooth features on both devices, you will be able to connect the phone to the speaker in no time.

If you want to successfully connect your iHome speaker to an iPhone, there are a few steps that you need to go through.

The steps include:

  1. Preparing the speaker
  2. Putting the speaker in pairing mode
  3. Pairing the speaker with your iPhone.

So, with the above steps, you can already see that things are getting easier right?

However, let’s get a bit deeper into each of the steps and see what exactly you need to do.

1. Prepare the iHome Speaker

iHome speakers need a power source to operate. Your iHome speaker should have a USB port and should also come along with a USB cable and adapter that you can use for charging the speaker.

Look for a power source near you or simply plug the USB cable into your PC and then connect it to the speaker to charge it.

Normally, iHome speakers will be fully charged after 6 hours or less, so you should expect to have their battery fully charged after that.

What you don’t want is to have your speakers turn off right in the middle of listening to your favorite music.

While the iHome speaker is on a charge, the LED light on the speaker will keep flashing or blinking red light. You’ll know if the speaker is fully charged when the LED light stops blinking.

2. Put the Speaker in Pairing Mode

The iHome speaker supports Bluetooth connection, therefore you need to connect to your iPhone via Bluetooth.

To do this, you have to turn on your iHome speaker first. There are several buttons on your iHome speaker for different purposes.

Locate the power button and hold it down for some seconds. Release your finger after you hear a sound from the speaker.

With the iHome speaker turned on, you can now switch it to Bluetooth or pairing mode.

At the bottom panel of the speaker, you’ll find a switch. This switch can easily be slid.

So, slide the switch from the Aux mode to the Bluetooth mode. This gets the device almost ready for Bluetooth pairing.

Now, look up the top panel of your iHome speaker and you’ll see another button that has been labeled as Play, Pause, or Pairing.

If you are able to press the button successfully, you’ll see the light on your speaker flash twice.

This will indicate to you that your iHome has been put in the pairing and can now be accessible to other devices.

3. Pair the Speaker With Your iPhone

Now that you have set the speaker up to be paired, let’s shift our attention to the iPhone.

Make sure that you and your iPhone are within the range of your speaker’s Bluetooth. That should be about 30 ft or less.

Turn on your iPhone and go to Settings. Navigate your way to the Bluetooth and then turn it on to enable the connection.

Your iPhone will then begin to search for available devices within the range of Bluetooth, after which your iHome speaker should pop up in the list of available devices.

Tap on the speaker once you find it so that the pairing process can begin.

Sometimes, your speaker may not show up immediately in the list of devices. You’ll rather find it in Other Devices. Just tap on it over there once you find it. If you’re prompted to enter a passcode, just type the default code 1234 and you’ll be good to go.

Upon successful pairing of the speaker and your iPhone, the iHome speaker will speak out to confirm the pairing and a green light will show up on the speaker.

After you are through with the pairing, you can go ahead and play any audio content on your iPhone, which will be played on the iHome speaker.

Why is My iHome Speaker not Connecting to My iPhone?

It’s disappointing when your electronic devices fail to work as expected. However, some of these glitches are bound to happen.

The good news is that you can also fix the situation in some other way.

If your iHome speaker is refusing to connect to your iPhone, don’t worry. I have some tips here for you that you can apply.

  • Recheck your phone and the iHome speaker if the Bluetooth feature is active on both devices. If your iHome is not in pairing mode, make sure to press the Pairing button and wait for the light on the speaker to flash twice. On your iPhone, turn off your Bluetooth and then turn it back on to reset it. After that go through the above steps again and hopefully, everything should be alright.
  • Sometimes, your iPhone or the iHome speaker may actually be connected to other devices while you try to connect the speaker to your iPhone. In that case, the Bluetooth connection between the two will not work. You need to disconnect all other Bluetooth connections to either device by disconnecting them manually on your phone or simply resetting the devices.
  • Enable the Bluetooth on your iPhone first and then put the iHome speaker into the pairing after that.
  • Make sure that the speaker and the iPhone are within the range of Bluetooth so that they can discover each other. Get close enough to the speaker with your iPhone during the process if you have to.

Final Thoughts

iHome speakers sound very good when you use them together with an iPhone. Both devices have Bluetooth features, making it easier for you to leverage on Bluetooth technology for their connection.

To connect the iHome to your iPhone, you need to pair the speaker up with your iPhone first.

However, you should also prepare the iHome speaker for the Bluetooth connection first by charging it up to sufficient battery levels. This will prevent connectivity issues and will also prevent your speaker from shutting down in the middle of the pairing process.

Once you set up your speaker, you can put it into pairing mode and then connect your iPhone to it by using the steps that I mentioned in this guide.
